Join us and Dr. Cynthia Stephens and learn critical factors affecting children’s cognitive, physical, and emotional development. Learn strategies to enhance more effective interactions with children to improve focus, attention, readiness for learning and positive interactions.  Workshop participants will identify important aspects of;

Gestational and fetal development
Early childhood development
What’s typical and what’s not in childhood development
Exploring the brain and the physical, mental and emotional connection
Effective strategies that help children learn and remember
Environmental factors that influence learning and adjustment

Workshop Presenter

Cynthia Stephens, Ph.D., CCC, L. Sp., is a Licensed and Certified Speech and Language Pathologist who works as a consultant in New York City area schools and agencies promoting developmentally appropriate teaching.  She worked with the Bronx Early Childhood Direction Center and The Valymyr Group developing curricula for continuing education training for parents and staff. Dr. Stephens, a former professional dancer, worked in area childcare facilities, linking language and physical development in therapy as a dance instructor. She conducts continuing education training for educators, parents and allied professionals.

Dr. Stephens is the author of three children’s books; On Days Like These, 133 Daunting Days, and Before Day Clean.  Dr. Stephens began her professional career at the Willowbrook State School as a Speech Pathologist and worked for the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities for 34 years before her retirement.
